Hey Team, my name is Alan O'Mahoney.
I just wanted to say a quick hello and submit my cover letter and resume for review; I'd greatly appreciate it if you take a look. I have done work for Bon Appétit before, along with many other Compass Group USA divisions, and I can give you a list of internal references. Of all the things I have done throughout my professional career, I am most passionate about providing my team and their operators with an efficient means to remove their own daily struggles.
Looking at the job posting, you're asking for someone who can sit in a district operations review and run a training session for folks who are skeptical of AI. This is me; I have already done this before with great results.
In previous roles at Agilysys I led go-live deployments and training for InfoGenesis POS, Automated Kitchen Systems, Self-Service Ordering (on-prem and online) and Payments at Casino Resorts, Hotels and Compass Group USA before transitioning into a leadership role to manage a team that does all of the above. I know what a kitchen looks like at 6 a.m. on opening day (slightly controlled mayhem), I speak FOH and BOH, understand the relationships there and why a chef will not trust a tool that has been wrong once. I know the pain points of operators and how much they juggle on a daily basis. I have been in the trenches with these guys, and I did everything in my power to make their day-to-day life as easy and pain-free as I could.
The majority of my former team, along with myself, came from an F&B Operations background, and I strived for intuitiveness, optimization and efficiency wherever I could, to make their job easier, and therefore the operators they work with lives easier.
Along the way I built (what are now regarded as very necessary) systems that nobody else shipped for us. To mention a few:
- The Agilysys Field Suite, an internal web platform for go-live scheduling, UAT sign-off, escalations, inter-departmental secure document handling, standardized reporting and a natural-language query chat over field data, now in daily use by project and implementation staff and through InfoSec review.
- A networking tool that identifies potential communication issues prior to on-site engagement and vastly reduces the stall time on the most common implementation chokepoint.
- A sourced, interactive map of InfoGenesis configuration, built from 20+ product guides, so implementers stop hunting and start doing.
I build with AI coding agents rather than writing every line by hand. I read, debug and own the code, and I ship working tools instead of decks about tools.
The part of your posting I care most about is that success is measured by how much people build without me. Every rollout I have led went to operators who did not ask for new software, and the part I protect is what happens after go-live: the documentation they can follow on their own, the training that checks they actually got it, and a standing time to come back with questions. I would start the same way at Bon Appétit: sit with culinary, finance, HR and safety leaders, build the opportunity pipeline, ship two or three quick wins in the first 90 days, and say no (maybe later) to the rest.
Sincerely,
Alan O'Mahoney
